The results are strongest when a scene has one main visual idea. A prompt can still contain several beats, but each beat should have a visible purpose and a clear order.

How I ran the tests

I generated the clips between August 2 and August 5, 2026, through the official Dreamina workflow with Seedance 2.5 selected. All people and settings are original. No existing anime title, studio style, or living artist was used as the target.

The exports are 720p MP4 files with audio tracks. Three clips were exploratory scene generations. Two later clips used more structured prompts: a 12-second close-up and a 30-second continuous sequence with four timed sections. I kept the exported clips intact apart from web compression.

This is a scene test, not a complete product review. ByteDance describes Seedance 2.5 as an audio-video generation model designed for longer storytelling, reference control, and editing. Test 1: Reference-guided anime character action

Scene brief: Keep a silver-haired courier in a red jacket recognizable while the character moves through a bright futuristic metro platform with a hovering service robot.

The character remains easy to identify through changing poses: short silver hair, red jacket, dark underlayer, and the same youthful facial design remain readable. The camera and background motion add energy without hiding the main action. The service robot also gives the character something to react to, which makes the movement feel motivated rather than decorative.

This clip is useful as a character entrance or a fast action beat. Its strongest production value is the combination of identity, motion, and setting in one shot. It does not by itself prove continuity across a complete sequence; that requires the same design to survive several separately planned shots. A character sheet and approved keyframes still make that process more controllable.

Prompt lesson: Name the character anchors that must stay visible, then describe one connected path of action. “Keep the short silver hair, red jacket, and facial design consistent” is more actionable than repeating “same character” without defining what “same” means.

Test 2: Two-character rooftop action in 9:16

Scene brief: Create a sharp, cool-toned anime confrontation between an adult man and woman on a high rooftop, formatted as a 10-second vertical short.

The 9:16 composition keeps both fighters legible while moving from full-body staging toward a closer confrontation. Their silhouettes, hair colors, clothing, and positions make the pair easy to distinguish. The skyline, wind, and weapon movement create a direct short-form rhythm, and the final close framing works as a natural endpoint for a teaser.

The finish leans toward polished cinematic character rendering rather than flat television-style cel animation. That makes this example especially useful for prompt design: “anime” alone leaves a wide visual range. If you need flatter linework, simplified shadow shapes, or a particular production texture, describe those visible properties directly.

Prompt lesson: State the publishing ratio at the start and design the blocking for it. In a vertical fight, foreground/background separation and clear silhouettes matter more than fitting a wide environment into the frame.

Test 3: Steering the result toward 2D anime

Scene brief: After an earlier output felt too three-dimensional, request a visibly 2D anime scene with an intimate emotional rhythm.

The revised direction produces clean drawn outlines, flatter shading, bright character faces, and a soft cherry-blossom setting. The sequence moves from a shared view to individual close-ups and back to a wider emotional resolution. The two characters remain recognizable across the changes in shot size, which is more useful than a single attractive frame.

The result also shows why visual feedback should be concrete. “Make it more anime” can still be interpreted broadly. “Clean 2D linework, simple cel shading, restrained depth, and consistent facial proportions” gives the model observable targets.

Best use: This type of output fits a relationship beat, music-video insert, or storyboard proof in which emotion and atmosphere carry more weight than complex physical interaction.

Test 4: Subtle acting with generated audio

Scene brief: Hold on the same original courier for 12 seconds. Use a slow push-in while the character hears an arrival chime, tightens a shoulder-bag strap, speaks one line, and moves from concern to a small determined smile.

This is the clearest close-up continuity test in the set. The silver hair, red jacket, facial proportions, and overall age remain stable as the camera approaches. The bag-strap gesture is restrained and readable, and the expression changes gradually instead of jumping between unrelated faces. The slow push-in gives the shot a beginning and an endpoint without requiring a cut.

The exported file includes a generated stereo audio track. The prompt requested an arrival chime, station ambience, and the English line, “Platform seven is closing. If you're coming, come now.” The visual assessment here focuses on facial stability, gesture, and camera behavior. A complete audio quality-control pass should also cover dialogue clarity and lip timing in the intended playback environment.

Prompt lesson: For subtle performance, write micro-actions in order: hear, look, breathe, grip, speak, smile. Add “restrained” or “small” when you want acting that does not turn into exaggerated motion.

Test 5: A continuous 30-second anime story

Scene brief: Tell one continuous station story in four timed sections. The courier waits beside a service drone, loses a paper ticket, catches it near the platform edge, and boards the arriving train.

This is the most production-relevant test because it asks the model to carry a character, prop, companion, setting, and action chain across 30 seconds. The output establishes the platform before moving closer to the courier and drone. The ticket creates a clear cause-and-effect action, and the arriving train provides a destination and a visual ending.

The courier stays recognizable through wide, medium, and closer views. The red-orange jacket, pale hair, shoulder bag, and service drone continue to function as identity anchors even as pose and scale change. The model interprets the four timing blocks as narrative guidance rather than frame-accurate edit points, so the sequence feels like a generated scene rather than a locked editorial timeline. That is appropriate for an animatic or proof of concept; a final cut still benefits from shot-level generation and editing.

The continuous audio track supports the station setting and movement. For delivery, review the ambience, train sounds, and action sync on headphones as well as phone speakers, then replace or mix any sound that needs tighter control.

Prompt lesson: Give every time range a clear subject, action, camera role, and transition. Repeating the character and setting anchors once before the timeline helps the model treat the sections as one story.

What these results suggest for anime creators

Character continuity improves with visible anchors

Hair silhouette, a signature color block, one accessory, and a recurring prop are effective anchors. The courier tests remain readable because the pale hair, red jacket, bag, and drone can survive changes in angle and shot size. For a multi-shot project, approve those anchors in a reference sheet before generating video.

Action works best as a cause-and-effect chain

“A character performs a dynamic action” is vague. “The ticket slips, blows toward the edge, the courier turns, reaches, catches it, stands, and boards” creates an ordered physical problem. The output can then connect poses around an understandable objective.

Style language should describe visible properties

The rooftop and cherry-blossom clips occupy different points inside the broad category of anime. Define line quality, shadow style, depth, color treatment, character proportions, and camera texture. This reduces the gap between the word “anime” and the finish you actually want.

Longer scenes are useful for exploration; shots remain useful for control

A 30-second generation can reveal pacing, staging, and transition ideas quickly. A production workflow still benefits from dividing an approved sequence into shots, because each shot can then be regenerated, compared, or timed without replacing the whole scene. Vertical video needs its own blocking

The rooftop test works because the two characters stay separated within a narrow composition. For anime shorts, specify 9:16 early, keep important faces and hands away from interface overlays, and plan motion along the vertical frame rather than cropping a wide shot afterward.

Start with a steady medium close-up. Prompt for a 30-second anime story

Create one continuous 30-second 2D cel-shaded anime sequence with native environmental audio. Use the same original adult courier: short silver-white hair, small red hair clip, red utility jacket, dark trousers, compact shoulder bag. The setting is a bright futuristic metro platform. Keep the character identity, outfit, bag, platform layout, and visual direction consistent.

0–6 seconds: wide establishing shot. The courier waits beside a hovering service drone while a train approaches in the far tunnel. Slowly track right.

6–14 seconds: medium tracking shot. A paper ticket slips from the courier's hand and blows toward the platform edge. The courier turns and reaches while the drone moves alongside.

14–22 seconds: low three-quarter shot. The courier catches the ticket before the warning line, stands, and looks toward the arriving train. Make a controlled half-orbit.

22–30 seconds: medium-wide closing shot. The doors open, warm interior light reaches the platform, and the courier steps inside with the drone. End on the empty platform as the doors close. Maintain station ambience, train sound, footsteps, cloth movement, and drone hum. No dialogue, music, subtitles, or on-screen text.
