Anime OC Maker: Create an Original Character With AI

Use an AI anime OC maker to turn a written brief into a full-body original character and a front, three-quarter, and side reference sheet.

An OC, or original character, is a character you invent yourself rather than one taken from an existing series. People make OCs for comics, fan communities, tabletop campaigns, VTuber concepts, and their own anime shorts.

Most OC makers online are dress-up builders: you pick a face, a hairstyle, and an outfit from a fixed set of parts. That is fast, but every result is assembled from the same parts library. An AI anime OC maker works the other way around. You describe the character in words, pick a visual style, and the tool draws a design that did not exist before.

This guide shows how to do that with the MkAnime AI anime character creator, what you get back, and how to write a brief that produces a character you can actually reuse.

What the AI OC maker gives you

One generation returns two images of the same character:

  • A 3:4 full-body image that shows the design from head to toe.
  • A 16:9 reference sheet with front, three-quarter, and side views.

The full-body image is for judging the overall design. The reference sheet is for checking whether the hair, outfit, proportions, and accessories hold together from other angles. That second image is what separates an OC you can draw again from a one-off picture.

Both images are static and downloadable. The tool does not write a backstory, build a world, or animate the character. Those parts stay with you.

The three inputs

The character creator asks for three things:

  1. Character name. Required. It keeps your generations organized and helps you reuse the same brief later.
  2. Character description. Required. This is where the whole design lives.
  3. Visual style. Chosen from the Style Picker, which shows each preset with a name and thumbnail.

There is no parts menu to click through. Everything the design needs has to be in the description, so the quality of the brief decides the quality of the OC.

How to write an OC brief that works

Write what can be seen, not what the character feels. "She is brave and lonely" gives the model nothing to draw. "Short silver hair with one braid, oversized navy courier jacket, a scar across the left eyebrow, carries a brass lantern" does.

A reliable order:

  1. Role in one line. Courier, shrine guard, rookie pilot, runaway alchemist. The role explains the clothes and props.
  2. Silhouette. Height, build, and the one shape you would recognize from far away: a long coat, a huge hood, a tall ponytail.
  3. Face and hair. Hair length, color, and style; eye color; one distinctive facial detail.
  4. Outfit. Two or three main pieces with colors. Say how they are layered.
  5. Signature item. One prop or accessory that belongs only to this character.
  6. Palette. Two or three main colors plus one accent.
  7. What to avoid. Anything the model keeps adding that you do not want.

Keep it to one short paragraph. Long biographies dilute the visual instructions.

Example brief

Mira, a teenage night-market courier. Small and quick, wears an oversized navy work jacket with rolled sleeves over a mustard hoodie, cargo shorts, and scuffed red sneakers. Short silver bob with one thin braid on the right side, amber eyes, a small scar through the left eyebrow. Always carries a brass lantern on a strap across her chest. Palette: navy, mustard, silver, with a red accent. No weapons, no wings.

Enter "Mira" as the name, paste the brief, choose a style, and generate.

Check the result before you keep it

Open both images at full size and check:

  • Is the silhouette readable, or does the outfit blur into one shape?
  • Does the signature item appear, and is it the same object in every view of the reference sheet?
  • Do the hair and outfit colors match between the full-body image and the three views?
  • Are hands and feet complete in the full-body image?

If something is wrong, change one part of the brief and create a new version. Changing several things at once makes it impossible to tell which edit fixed or broke the design. The anime character prompt template breaks a brief into separate fields if you want a more structured way to revise.

OCs for existing series

Many searches are for a Naruto OC, a My Hero Academia OC, or a One Piece OC. You can design an original character who would fit one of those worlds by describing the clothing, gear, and visual language of that setting in your own words: a ninja headband with your own village symbol, a hero costume with your own quirk hinted in the design, a pirate crew outfit in your own colors.

What the tool should not be used for is recreating an existing, copyrighted character. Describe your own design, and give it your own name.

Animal, fox, and chibi OCs

The same brief structure works for animal-eared characters, kemonomimi designs, and chibi proportions. State the proportions directly ("chibi proportions, head about one third of the body height") and describe ears, tails, or fur markings as visible features with colors, the same way you would describe an outfit.

After the OC is designed

Once you have a design you like, save the brief next to the downloaded images. The brief is what lets you produce the same character again.

FAQ

Is this an OC maker or a dress-up game?

It is a text-to-image OC maker. You describe the character instead of picking from preset parts, so each design is drawn from your brief.

Can I make an anime OC without drawing skills?

Yes. You only need to describe what the character looks like. Clear, visible details produce better results than personality descriptions.

What do I get from one generation?

A 3:4 full-body character image and a 16:9 reference sheet with front, three-quarter, and side views of the same design.

Can I make an OC for Naruto, My Hero Academia, or One Piece?

You can design your own original character in the visual language of a world you like. Do not use the tool to reproduce existing copyrighted characters.

Is it free?

Generation follows the current sign-in and account credit rules. Check the live pricing page before you start.
